Ironman 70.3 World Championship in Zell am See, Austria! Then home to Australia??
This was supposed to be the big race of 2015 season... I had a great swim, exiting the water in second place! Very exciting! I felt really good! Unfortunately at the beginning of the bike leg I dropped my water bottle and I had to go back for it otherwise I would be DQ'd for littering. I picked up my bottle and it was empty, not a great start to a challenging bike course. I decided to refill it at the next refreshment station. Unfortunately, the bottle had a crack and so all the refilling was for nothing...
The bike course in Zell was really tough. I pushed the long and steep climb and thought the race could still be good for me. But on the long descent I had no power to keep up with my competition. I started cramping and from kilometer 50 I was again, just suffering. I didn't give up as I was hoping to get the running legs like in Wiesbaden and so the day could still be good.
So again I have to say- unfortunately I didn't have my running legs this time and had also a bad run, finishing a disappointing 16th place. ( after last years 6th place I was hoping to show similar performance).
Home to Australia??
Where do I feel most at home?
I have spent two months in Europe. I really enjoyed being in Europe during summer time. But, I am really looking forward to going back to Australia! I don't really know where I feel more at home! In Europe I have my family and friends, but in Australia I have my fiancé and his family and my friends...
I love the life in Noosa Heads. I love their way of life. Training, people, and social life. This is a place I can imagine to live...
So just one day after Worlds I was on my flight to Brisbane. I arrived and I went straight back to training as I felt like I should be in better shape than I have shown in Zell.
