Ironman 70.3 Subic Bay, Philippines

I have heard only the best about all races organised by Sunrise Events so this year I have decided to try to do some of them. I have started with Ironman 70.3 in Subic Bay. I have raced ITU races in Subic 3 times (I think), so I know the place well and so I was looking forward to returning and see familiar places and also friends like Monica Torres and LC Langit :-)

I was put up in a hotel room with Bree Wee who I didn't know well before, but we immediately enjoyed the time and so the whole stay was a lot of fun.

Another great experience was the fun run one day before the race. It was a run with friends but just in underwear. OMG! It was unreal! In strong catholic country like Philippines everyone turned up just in underwear and had fun running in the centre of Subic! I felt too naked so luckily Monica lent me her bunny hat :-) That was the best pre race run warm up ever.

The race was very nice, again I had the fastest swim, then rode together with miss Swiss (Caroline Steffen) and then the RUN WAS NOT FUN. It was so hot. Caroline was running like the hear was not even a factor and I struggled. Luckily there were many aid stations with ice cubes. So water and ice cubes at every station brought me in to the finish line :-)

After finishing the race, there was the big surprise everyone was talking about. The great hospitality of the race organizers and sponsors. The post race treatment was unreal. Coconut water, shampoo and shower, ice bath, more coconut water, beer (if you felt like it) and all the food, and massage.
