Off to a Winning Start!
It's been a while since my last post but I will make an effort in 2019 to keep my fans and followers up to date on my training, racing and most of all being a mom while taking on the challenges of being a professional athlete.
Last weekend I raced my first race in 2019 at Ironman 70.3 Geelong.
The women's field was pretty strong with names like Caroline Steffen and Ellie Salthouse... I had a solid block of training in me since my off season break but the first race is always a big unknown. You don't know how you will race and you don't know in what shape your competition is...
For me it was an important start of the year as a good race gives me the extra motivation and a confidence boost. I know that what I am doing in training is working well.
It was a ocean swim in a wetsuit. I felt great from the start and was first out of the water. The bike course was flat with a couple of climbs in each of the two laps. I felt pretty good on the bike, "worked" at the front with Caroline Steffen to make sure we are riding a good pace. I wasn't sure how will my legs would feel on the run but they were surprisingly good.
I am very happy to take the win in the first race of the season and I am really excited to be racing again in March at Ironman 70.3 Davao, Philippines.
